Shepard's Pie Recipe

How To Make Shepard's Pie:

A little history on why they call it Shepard's Pie:

I learned in school that back in the days in Europe, People had large families and there were no grocery stores at every corner and families that lived in farms were too far to go anywhere so they would grow their own crops. So this was food the wives would make at home for their families and husbands which would go off the work with food sometimes. Therefore, they would gather all they had and would come up with some sort of "concoction" so to say. This Recipe stuck around and stood the test of time! Wives would gather lamb (they don't really use Beef in Europe) and potatoes and veggies and put it all together in a dish on layers and call it a "Meat Pie".

So here is a Recipe that I came up with. I am not concentrating on how to make the gravy and the mashed potatoes, assuming if you are making this intermediate recipe you already know how to make mashed potatoes and the gravy is a recipe all on its own  (so I will recommend Packaged Gravy unless you know how to make your own). I am just concentrating on setting up the layers...

Anyone order a Shepard's Pie??
Its finally here!! Just finished my Recipe!! It will be a picture based recipe, but I will have instructions just in case.

-Cut your Veggies (carrots, celery, onion, cheese {if needed}, tomatoes, potatoes)
-Suet Carrots until tender, add the onions and celery until translucent.
-Boil Potatoes (add salt) and bring to a simmer for 20 minutes covered.
-Meanwhile, once veggies are cooked thoroughly, add the meat and cook meat through. Add seasoning to your taste once meat is cooked.
-Meanwhile, Make the gravy and let cool.
-Once potatoes are cooked, prepare them your way! (I add coconut oil, plain yogurt, salt, pepper, and garlic powder)
-Once everything is hot and ready, add the peas to the meat mix, then add the gravy and begin the layers.
-In a bread loaf or a pie dish, place Meat first, then the cheese over the meat mix, then lather the mashed potatoes over the cheese.
-Poke the potatoes with a fork (this allows the tips of the holes to let you know when the pie is ready)
-Place in Oven for 20-30 Minutes until tips of Mashed Potatoes are Golden Brown and sides are bubbling. (Some ovens take longer than others)
-Let cool for 20 minutes, Slice, Serve, and Enjoy!
